At Viva Technologies AS ("Viva AS"), safeguarding your privacy is a primary concern.
We rigorously protect the security of any personal information you provide while using Viva products and services.
We do not share or sell information to third parties and actively protect all user data from disclosure, except when requested by legitimate law enforcement agencies with a court order.
Types and Purposes of Data Collected by Viva ASWhen you install the Viva browser ("Viva"), each installation profile receives a unique user ID stored on your device.
Viva sends a message via HTTPS directly to our servers in Iceland every 24 hours, containing this ID, version, CPU architecture, screen resolution, and time since the last message.
We anonymize the IP address of Viva users by removing the last octet from your Viva client, then store the approximate location after a local geoip lookup.
This data collection aims to determine the total number of active users and their geographical distribution.
Viva includes various links to websites in the default bookmarks. Some of these websites are partners of Viva AS, while others are not.
Viva AS receives shared revenue from these bookmark partners, allowing us to offer this software free of charge and continue to excel.
We strive to include bookmarks that are valuable to our users, regardless of revenue.
Some content providers set cookies on their websites (as mentioned below).
You are free to remove any or all bookmarks if you prefer.
Your browsing history, such as visited URLs, typed search keywords, and downloaded content, is stored in your client profile and only accessible by your actions.
Viva AS has no access to this data, and your history cannot be shared unless you choose to do so.
Viva features a built-in password manager that stores your login credentials for sites where you've enabled this feature by choosing to store your credentials in Viva's password manager.
Viva uses password storage frameworks provided by your device's operating system, and your data is encrypted if the framework supports encryption.
If you use the Viva Sync feature, documentation about the data we collect and the purposes for this service is available here.
If you enable automated crash log sharing in settings, Viva will send a detailed log to our server when it crashes.
Crash logs may contain personal data residing in relevant sections of your device's memory, including passwords and content from the webpages you visit.
However, this data is never made available to our staff, as we immediately process the received data to extract a stack trace, indicating where in Viva the crash occurred.
Once this process is complete, the full log is removed from our services, and we only retain the stack trace and the URL of the active page at the time of the crash for 60 days.
To determine the availability of Direct match sponsorship in your country, Viva AS uses a local GeoIP database to determine your country based on your IP address.
This is only done if Direct match is used, and the IP address is discarded immediately.
Types and Purposes of Data Collected by Third-Party VendorsWhen you enable Search suggestions in your Settings (Settings > Search), Viva sends a request to the chosen search engine with the typed keyword to display search results.
Privacy policies for individual supported search engines can be found here.
On desktop, Viva integrates Google's Safe browsing API, which checks the site you are visiting against a master list of known suspected phishing and malware sites.
This feature can be turned off in the Privacy settings (Settings > Privacy > Privacy).
We use Google's form autofill feature to help you fill out web forms more quickly.
Autofill is enabled by default, and in the desktop browser, it can be turned off at any time in Viva's settings.
This feature does not send your personal information to Google. Detailed information on what is shared can be found here.
Many websites use cookies to identify repeat visitors and store information about their site visitors.
Viva stores cookies based on the user's privacy settings (Settings > Privacy > Cookies), but how the cookie is used is determined by the website you are visiting and the types of cookies.
Therefore, it is important to understand the privacy policy of the websites you visit.
You can view, manage, and remove all stored cookies in your privacy settings.
If you set up Viva Mail or Calendar to access your Gmail or Google Calendar, Viva's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use Requirements.
